Increase Asian American awareness on campus

Asian American Association hopes to increase group awareness and in the process, nurture the Asian American identity. Our events are dedicated to creating a familiar setting where people of diverse backgrounds can find comfort, community, and most of all, friendship.

AAA Club Party

This event is an icebreaker for the freshman, allowing them to meet and mingle with many of the upperclassman. It will take place off-campus as a way for new students to experience the Loop. We will also use this event to expand our membership.

AAA Fall Banquet

We will be going to eat at Emperor's Palace with our members. This is a great way to get to know our members in a fun, off-campus environment. We hope to hold this event early in the semester as a way to bond with incoming freshmen.

AAA Week

This is by far our largest and most involved effort to educate and identify the Asian American culture and the experience of Asians in America. This is a weeklong event and this year we will be collaborating with different Asian student groups to create a more diverse experience. The week's events will include an Asian movie night, food tasting, broomball, discussions, and charity auction. We expect around 50 people at each day's event with the charity auction attracting 100+ people.

AAA/KSA Basketball Tournament

On the courts of the Swamp, this 3 on 3 challenge brings in a lot of visibility and excitement for participant and spectators alike. AAA is collaborating with KSA to host this fun event. AAA is responsible for equipment this year.

Iceskating at Steinberg Rink

At the end of the semester, we would like to bring our members ice skating at Steinberg Rink. We went two years ago and it was highly successful. This is a fun event, late in the semester, that allows members to bond and de-stress.

Membership Retreat

AAA is planning a retreat that will be open to all members. This will provide a great opportunity for our members to get to know our exec board and generate ideas for events for the semester, while having a fun time too. Winter Formal
