The DUC programming board has launched a new initiative to tailgate outside the DUC (in the front courtyard by the parking lot) before home football games in the Fall. I encourage everyone to come out, enjoy some lunch, and then go out to support our Bears. If you're really adventurous, bring your own grill and camp out in parking lot. Either way, I really believe this is the season for us to come together as a community and show our Wash U Pride. Stay on the look out for more information from the DUC as more details fall into place.
This is Wash U, a project started in University Initiatives Committee, is trying to address the issue of school pride. The purpose of the project is to create a community based definition of school spirit- that is, to find out what it means to have school pride on the Wash U Campus. Part of this project is an extremely short survey about aspects of school pride and what makes a tradition. I hope that you will take the few minutes to complete the survey below, and help us determine what our community views as school pride.
Senate approved the General Budget tonight. Because the Treasury approved it last night, the General Budget has been approved for next year.
Senate will be addressing the smoking ban next week (Wednesday, the 22nd, 9PM, DUC 276), and in the University Intiatives meeting at 6PM Thursday, the 16th.
The This is WashU! Spirit Forum will be held Wednesday the 22nd at 7PM in DUC 276. All students are invited to discuss school spirit at WashU.
Following on the heels of the great success of last week's Senate Outreach program, this week we're going to be conducting short surveys for our "This is WashU" program, asking you all four simple questions.
There is sure to be a lot going on this weekend, especially since the first week of classes will be over. I hope everyone takes some time to enjoy some of the great athletic events (and chipotle burritos) that will be taking place.
On Friday, I'll be checking out the Mens' and Women's basketball teams take on Case Western from 6-10 in the AC. The Athletics Department is sponsoring a Residental Hall Shooutout and the first round will take place!

On Saturday, there will be a M/W Swimming Invite. This should be really cool to attend, especially since the first 50 WU students to show up between Noon and 1 will recieve a free chipotle burrito buck.

Finally, on Sunday, the M & W basketball teams will be back in action vs Emory (remember when they randomly tried to start a rivalry with us...) The Men's game starts at 11 and the Women's starts at 1. These games will feature the second round of the Residential Hall Shootout and the first 50 WU students to show up with recieve a free chipotle burrito (actual food)!
