Create Chancellor Appointed Committee Application

Thank you for your interest in Chancellor-appointed committees. All applicants will be interviewed by the President and members of the Student Union Executive Council before selections are made. The Chancellor will make every effort to appoint individuals nominated by the President and will review all potential committee members to ensure that there is no conflict of interest for the individual to serve on the committee.

Assembly Series Committee

The Assembly Series Committee approves speakers and sets the calendar for the historical lecture series that takes place in Graham Chapel.

Commencement Committee

The Commencement Committee plans logistics, scheduling and other events related to the annual commencement ceremonies. The committee also coordinates activities with other commencement-related groups, such as the Honorary Degree Committee and Senior Student Association.

Discrimination and Title IX Grievance Committee

The Discrimination and Title IX Grievance Committee hears complaints by graduate and undergraduate students pertaining to discrimination based upon gender, as covered in Title IX. The committee will also hear complaints by undergraduate students pertaining to discrimination or discriminatory harassment. The Committee will meet only when there is a case to be heard.

Holocaust Memorial Lecture Committee

The Holocaust Memorial Lecture Committee makes recommendations concerning a speaker for the University’s annual lecture to commemorate the Holocaust and to address its broader implications for other instances of systematic persecution and mass murder.

Library Council Committee

The Library Council Committee advises the Dean of Library Services about general library operations and other needs seen by students and faculty. When necessary, the committee also compiles reports on particular library services, funding and other issues.

Parking and Transportation Advisory Committee

The Parking and Traffic Advisory Committee advises the Director of Transportation on traffic, parking, or transportation issues for the Danforth Campus, including alternatives, major policy changes, and fine and ticket issues.

Safety and Security Committee

This Safety and Security Committee facilitates the communication, coordination, and distribution of information dealing with campus safety and security. The Committee may serve also as a consultative body or sounding board for the Washington University Police Department and other departments concerned with safety and security issues.

Sports and Recreation Advisory Committee

The Sports and Recreation Advisory Committee advises the Athletic Director in the formulation of policies and the setting of priorities with regard to recreation, intramural athletics and club sports, intercollegiate athletics, utilization of facilities, and repair/renovation of facilities.

University Judicial Board

The University Judicial Board performs an extremely important role in preserving academic and behavior standards at Washington University. The University Judicial Board hears and decides cases of serious student misconduct referred to it by the Judicial Administrator or by individual School or College academic integrity panels, and performs other duties as prescribed by the University Judicial Code.
