| Description | "The Association of Black Students of Washington University is a student organization dedicated to the interests of Black people and all oppressed people. Social liberation is our aim..." - from the preamble to the Constitution of the Association of Black Students of Washington University. The Association of Black Students is a political, educational, cultural and social organization. Its mission is to give voice and power to address the needs of, and supplement the experience of, black students at WU. The Association of Black Students also tries to create a family network for African American students. With several committees: Political Affairs, Co-Programming, Newsletter, Treasury, History, Community Service, Constitutional Review, Formal, Social and Publicity, there is a place for everyone to get involved. Our annual big events are the Black Arts and Sciences Festival, MLK Symposium, Feed My Sheep, and ABS Retreat. Through events with the Black Alumni Council, the African and Afrian American Studies department, Campus and Academic leadership, and other student groups, ABS tries to connect African American students with important resources in the Washington University community. |
