Food Distribution Policy
Mallinckrodt Center
(Effective August 2004)
These policies were developed in accordance with St. Louis County Health Department
and St. Louis County Fire Department codes.
- Groups may distribute food, once approved, only at reserved vendor tables,
Schoenberg Gallery’s round tables and Bowles Plaza. Vendor tables, Schoenberg
Gallery and Bowles Plaza may be reserved through the Event Services Office at
304 Mallinckrodt Center.
- Groups must complete the Food Distribution Application available at the Event
Services Office. Completed forms should be submitted to Event Services at least
two weeks prior to reservation date for approval. If denied, groups will work with
Washington University Dining Services and Event Services to make any
necessary changes for the application to be approved.
- Due to policies set forth by the St. Louis County Health Department and the St.
Louis County Fire Department, only room temperature and cold foods may be
distributed. Food requiring heat for cooking or warming may not be distributed.
- Groups distributing food that is not pre-packaged, must wear gloves and place
food on plates or in boxes.
- Food distribution, whether for free, donation or charge, must be for fundraising,
charitable cause or other not-for-profit purposes.
- The Food Distribution Application marked “approved” must be clearly posted on
the vendor table, Schoenberg Gallery table and Bowles Plaza table where the food
is being offered.
- Groups distributing food in Bowles Plaza are required to rent the necessary tables
and are responsible to make cleaning and payment arrangements with Facilities at
935-4533.
- Groups distributing food in Schoenberg Gallery are responsible to make cleaning
and payment arrangements with Housekeeping at 935-9314.
- Event Services or Washington University Dining Services reserves the right to
halt food distribution.
