Hello Everyone,

Budget Committee is now accepting applications for the open seats on the committee! Budget Committee (BC) is one of three standing committees of the Student Union Treasury. BC's purpose is to distribute Student Union funds in a semesterly budgeting process to SU Student Groups. BC sets guidelines for budgeting at the beginning of each semester and applies them through the budgets.

The final application deadline is Friday, 9/18. And please note that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If you have any questions about the committee or the application process, please feel free to email us: budget@su.wustl.edu!

Hey Everyone!

We want you to apply for the Equipment Comittee (application attached to blog post). The Equipment Committee is a new standing committee of Treasury that is charged with

1) working with student groups to develop strategic equipment purchasing plans,
2) ensure that purchased equipment is fully funded by Student Union,
3) keep an inventory of all equipment purchsed with the Student Activity Fee,
4) and help student groups to use equipment by referring them to other student groups that rent equipment and by developing new process for renting and storing equipment when necessary.

The chairs of this committee are Daniel Bernard and Peter Glaser. Since this committee is new, it is very important that we start quickly and correctly. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis (attached to this blog post).

As the school year gets started, it's that time again: Budgets! 

Here are some important dates to put on your calendars:

Category II:

Open: Now! If you have experience making budgets, go ahead and login to your SU account! If not, Presidents' and Treasurers' training is coming up on 9/13 at 1:00pm.

Closed: Friday, September 25th at 5:00pm.

Category I:

Open: Sunday, September 13th.

Closed: Friday, October 23rd at 5:00pm

Budget Workshops: If the you're having budget issues, small or large, come see us from 10/5 - 10/9! We'll be sending out another update with the specific times as we get closer.

Hello Everyone,

The Student Group Activities Committee (SGAC) is now accepting applications for open seats on the committee. For those of you who don't know, SGAC is a Treasury committee that acts as a liaison between all 200+ student groups on campus and Student Union. The committee decides which groups obtain SU recognition, plan the activities fair and president and treasurer's training, deregister inactive groups, serve as a resource for student groups, and much more.

We will be having our first meeting Sunday, August 30th upstairs in the SU
office, located in the DUC, at 2pm where you can see the committee in action, learn more about SGAC, and get any questions you might have answered. We will be seeing two actual groups so attending the meeting would be a great chance to gain more insight into what SGAC does before deciding whether or not you would like to apply.

An application has been attached below. Please return completed applications to sgac@su.wustl.edu or turn paper copies in to the SGAC mailbox located on the 2nd floor of the SU office. Applications are due September 8th at 5 pm.

Dear Category I Student Groups,

As of 12:07am April 21st, Category I groups will be able to view their itemized allocation on the SU website here: http://su.wustl.edu/directory.

Some things to note:

Equipment and Library Costs

Equipment and library costs are not shown in the allocation, due to the new Equipment Committee process. Instead, the Budget Committee approved equipment that Equipment Committee has decided to fund will appear in the allocation notes in the event where that equipment was budgeted.

Equipment rentals such as Public Address systems, microphones, projectors, and projector screens will be available for rental from SU in the fall free of charge. Please contact the Equipment Committee chairs, Peter Glaser and Daniel Bernard, at equipment@su.wustl.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

Revenue Policy

Dear Students,

    We are writing to let you know about the change in leadership in Treasury. As you may know, David Cohen, the previous Budget Committee chair is now the SU Vice President of Finance. Treasury recently held its first meeting of the 2009-2010 term and held elections for the three committees. As such, we wanted to take this time to introduce ourselves, and let you know about what ideas we have to make the budgeting process even smoother.

    Belina Yi: Hi! my name is Belina. I am a Sophomore majoring in PNP and minoring in Music. I have been a Budget Committee member and a Treasury Representative.

Over the course of the next few weeks the Equipment Committee will be deciding it's goals for the next semester.  I am therefore interested in what you, the students, want from the equipment committee next year.  What are you opinions on topics that will be discussed and why?  Have an idea for something the Equipment Committee can handle, this is the place to say it.

These are just a few of the topics that will be discussed for next semester:

-Setting up a rental system

-Reducing rental fees between student groups

-Reducing or eliminating rental fees from event services

-Organizing storage spaces for student groups to use
