Hey guys!
Today I met with Danielle Bristow, the Director of Orientation. Here are her updates:
1) Freshman Orientation is being scaled back to 5 days because of academic scheduling changes. But not to worry, everything will be okay. Some of the smaller programs will have to be cut, but they will all be rescheduled for after school begins, and most of those aren't even necessary for freshman to attend before class starts (e.g. sessions of Greek Life, Study Abroad). The only large-scale event that will need rescheduling is the Comedy Show, which will be bumped back to a First 40 Days event. Everything else should stay the same.
2) A new initiative called the "First year Center Series" is currently being developed, which will provide for weekly meeting at which University officials discuss different aspects of campus life with freshmen. The meetings will be open to everybody, there won't be a need to register beforehand.
3) The Office of Orientation is constantly searching for ways to further develop and improve orientation. ANYONE who is interested in contributing a suggestion should feel free to contact Danielle.
4) The WUSA program is sufficiently well-established, and she is now focusing on fine-tuning some aspects of the role. An emphasis on documenting floor programs and ensuring accountability are of newfound importance.
That's all for now, thanks for reading!
