As liaison to the College of Arts and Sciences, I recently had my liaison meeting with Danielle Bristow, to debrief freshman orientation and the upcoming parents weekend. Overall, Danielle felt that the freshman acclimation to campus went smoothly and even better than it has in previous years.
As the Director of Orientation and Parents Weekend, she orchestrated a magnificent freshman orientation this past August. She attributed the success to the improved WUSA program and her executive board. A new event, which entailed an ‘explore the Loop’ day, allowed for freshman to realize the potential of the St. Louis area outside of the ‘WashU bubble’.
As for parents weekend, the event should be very well attended. Almost all the planned events are sold out and the orientation office expects a large turnout. Panels and information sessions are also being offered optionally for families to attend.
