Increase visibility of the Art School on Main Campus
Art Students spend a large amount of time at the art school working in studios. They are also students on main campus, taking classes in the other colleges, participating as active members in other student groups, and making use of the resources available to all students of the university. The Art School Council exists in part to bridge the gap between the School of Art and main campus, making students in other colleges aware of the programs and events going on at the art school and bringing art-related activities to main campus.
Art Prom
The Art Prom is the School of Art's annual visual-themed formal that exposes the rest of the university to the School of Art. All members of the Wash U community are welcome to this social event which engages attendees in the various facets of performance. While the ticket sales and other fund raising activities raise a significant portion of the expenses, additional funds are required to cover the entire event and keep ticket costs affordable for all students.

College of Art Lecture Series
A very important part of the education of an artist is being exposed to other artist's work and their ideas that informed art practice. The lecture series provides a great opportunity for students to expand on their education. In addition to providing the opportunity for Art Students to hear from notable artists, curators and designers; these lectures often attract a substantial portion of their audience from students in other colleges. Whereas Art Council acts to promote not only the existence of physical art on campus but in addition the existence of contemporary art dialogue we feel that these speakers are pivotal to aiding in this very important goal. This lecture series is hosted in conjunction with the College of Art and The Samfox School for Design and Visual Arts.

The Art School Council provides some monetary support for these groups when their budgets or category status does not allow them to complete all of their own goals.

Whammo Press Screenprinting
Whammo Press is a student-run screenprinting and type-setting press that provides printing services for student groups and individuals.
So the University wishes to make Washington University in St. Louis a smoke free campus by July 2010. I feel that such a ban, while in the spirit of health and protection, fails to make campus a place for all students. Though the smoking population of campus may not stand in the majority there is no reason to banish them from our campus.
So long as smokers are able to respect a certain distance from all building entrances there is no reason why both smokers and non smokers alike cannot co-exist on the Danforth Campus.
I respect the health concerns of many students and I urge them along with others students passionate about this issue to get involved in the conversation.
