Beat Therapy

Juvenile Detention Center

Through our volunteer work at the local St. Louis Juvenile Detention Center, we aspire to use music as a mechanism for social change. Using music-interpretation activities, songwriting workshops, as well as art and theater projects, we facilitate conversations between the residents and Washington University students, and to give a voice to those often silenced by the prison system. It is often evident that the residents of the Juvenile Detention Center relish the opportunity to listen to their favorite music, write songs, or simply converse one-on-one with our engaged volunteers.

This program requires a weekly commitment at a time TBD.
