Brainstorming Project Ideas

  1. Nicole: Late night healthy meal
  2. Ben: Expansion of vending machine systems that serve prepared food late at night
  3. Lydia: Better communication of SFS options. Broadcasting.
  4. Jonah: Support Lydia, but also find alternative to Blackboard.
  5. Chas: Bubble mirrors for bikers on corner by concrete shapes by S40.
  6. Bo: Check out umbrellas from library. Large WU logo umbrellas.
    1. OR: Umbrella drop off at buildings and pickups.
  7. Amanda: Reduce art school Textbook prices.
  8. Brian: More gender inclusive restrooms (particularly academic buildings?).
  9. Uma: Virtual tour of the Danforth Campus.
    1. Including pictures of dorms and their interiors. Picture of each type of room.
  10. Amelia: Having resources for students who need long-term mental health care.
  11. Sih: Making items available to students (or Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.) – recycling cookware, clothes, etc.
  12. Julie: Lockers or storage on campus for those outside of business school who live off campus.
    1. Library only has day lockers. Also, a place to nap on campus?
  13. Mark: For classes that have clicker based things – integrate into applications on phones.
    1. Uma: It already is to some extent. Look into this.
    2. Sih: Some people don’t have phones adapted for this – so it needs to be only an alternative, not the only.
  14. Sylvia: People are dissatisfied with Identity Literacy course – professors seem not too content with it or interested.
  15. Varun: Incentivize EcoToGo.
    1. Getting new infrastructure so you don’t have to go to the cashier.
  16. Stella: Weekend newspapers distributed outside of Olin to more people.
  17. Andrew: Having a calorie count next to food items in various dining areas.

Steps for Umbrellas.General Planning:

  1. Get budgetary/financial information and plan.
    1. Research manufacturers/prices/bulk quantities.
      1. Designs and price differences.
      2. Talk to Head of Facilities/Management.
    2. Figure out how many locations needed so it would be useful and not inconvenient.
    3. Brainstorming questions that people in facilities would ask us.
      1. Figure out locking systems for umbrellas so they don’t get stolen.
    4. Some way of checking out umbrellas with card readers so they don’t get taken to dorms.
  2. Setup a meeting with Art.
    1. Research his details and information online. Will probably be sent to an assistant first.
    2. Send him an agenda and lay out what you will be talking about at your meeting.
    3. If we are needed to contribute monetarily:
      1. Reach out to Jordan who will reach out to Kenneth – Financials in SU
      2. Appeal for money, give presentation to Treasury that will approve (hopefully).
  3. Seeing it put into place after funding and a “Yes”:
    1. Follow up with emails/meetings to make sure it happens.
    2. Go to their office if no response.
    3. Get it publicized and do some marketing.
      1. Contact StudLife.

Updates:

  1. Judicial:
    1. Thursday- Release of the ArtSci opinion.
      1. Whether or not ArtSci constitutional body is alright.
      2. Available on SU Website.
  2. Mike:
    1. Last day to program for Student Groups is Sunday, December 6th.
