Hi Presidents and Treasurers,
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all had a fantastic spring break and have come back well rested! Here are two quick updates from Student Union:
The speaker nominations form for Trending Topics 2017 is now open!
Trending Topics is a lineup of diverse and distinguished speakers brought to campus by a respective nominating student group with support provided by Student Union. All eligible student groups (CAT I, CAT II, and SU Executive Entities) have the opportunity to nominate up to two names of speakers they would like to see brought to campus.
The form for speaker nominations can be found here or at https://goo.gl/forms/IYGb6Yy4nD9jfYaH3. Please note that each student group may submit up to 2 speaker names, and up to 1 may be funded through the initial final ballot. This year we are also implementing a price floor and ceiling for Trending Topics speakers. The speakers must be quoted at above $15,000 and below $62,500. It is NOT your responsibility to find a price estimate for your speaker(s). If the Campus Life Advisor finds that your speaker is below $15,000, Student Union can still fund the speaker through a regular Treasury appeals process.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Richard Wu (VP Programming) at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are excited about the opportunities and creative programs that student groups will bring to campus through Trending Topics!
If you were considering running in the election or were intrigued by it, I have good news! There is still a chance to join SU and work on new initiatives. Applications for the following positions are now open! go to https://su.wustl.edu/join. Applications close March 22nd at midnight!
On behalf of the 50th Student Union Execs I just want to say thank you for allowing each of us the opportunity to work with you for the past year. It has truly been a pleasure. On March 28th the new executives will be inaugurated and will be taking over each of our five positions. We have the utmost faith that they will do an amazing job and represent the student body with pride and respect. We hope that we have represented you in the same way.
I hope you all have a fantastic rest of your week.
Richard Wu / VP of Programming
